Day 10 – Building a Blog

1. Attend the “Fresh Start Call” which you registered for at the end of yesterday’s training. Go to your inbox and find the email confirming your attendance. If you have yet to register for the call; go to “Training Calls” and register for the Tuesday Fresh Start call (remember to select your time zone when registering).

2. Marketing Training

Today we are going to introduce you to some more methods of marketing…

Let’s start with the FREE methods.

If you are willing to do the work, you can succeed in this business by relying solely on Free methods of advertising.  However, they will take time, and your time is worth money.  So technically speaking, they’re not free.  But if you are low on funds, these methods can help you to get off the ground.

So let’s start with setting up your first blog.

A Blog (short for Weblog) is basically a webpage that you can update with new content, or posts.  Each post can be about a different topic.  For example, you might like to write about “The 7 Most Common Mistakes New Home Business Owners Make” or “How to Adveritise Your Home Business on Google.”

What you’re trying to do here is two things.  First, you want to extablish yourself as a knowledgeable expert.  People will only want to work with you if you can offer them value.  So by focussing on teaching them new skills (rather than on just selling them on joining your business) you can end up with your prospects calling you.  It sure beats chasing after them like many new home business owners do.

The other point of having a blog is for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) purposes.  The search engines love when you are constantly adding new content.  It helps to get you ranked higher in the search results pages, which can be an additional source of free leads.

You can see an example of my Blog at www.YourLifeOurPath.com.  This was created with Googles Blogger, which is very easy to use, and completely Free.

Here’s a quick video that shows you how to set up a blog using Googles Blogger;

Try to update your Blog once or twice a week with new content (at least), and to also keep it interesting.  If you want ideas on writing good posts, visit Technoratis list of 100 most popular blogs. Technorati is basically a giant search engine just for Blogs.  You can also take a look at the blogs of other Home Business owners, and see what they’re writing about for more ideas.  But just remember that if you want people to visit your blog, they need to have a good reason to do so in the first place.  So try to make your posts as interesting and informative as possible.
